Layn Marlow has illustrated and written picture books for Little Tiger Press, Oxford University Press and Orchard Books. Her collaborations with author Amber Stewart for OUP (including I love my Cloth and the forthcoming Just Like Tonight ) are proving particularly successful, selling co-editions in many foreign territories.

Realising early on that she loved art and writing, Layn first studied for a degree in History of Art, so she could do 'words about pictures'.

Her love of children's literature and particularly picture books, began not long after she was just too old to be part of their target readership, but luckily she and her husband soon had two children to share them with. It was then that Layn knew she wanted to do 'pictures about words'. She worked in libraries in Newbury and Reading and spent some years living in Belgium with her young family, before graduating with a first class degree in Illustration in 2002.

Since then she has been illustrating and writing full-time, and now lives in Hampshire with her husband and not-so-young children. She is represented by agent Nancy Miles of the Miles Stott Children's Literary Agency.
