Sarah McIntyre writes and illustrates a weekly comic strip called 'Vern & Lettuce' for the DFC, a new comic magazine published by David Fickling. She is currently illustrating two picture books, one with David Fickling and one with Scholastic UK and is represented by Rosemary Canter at United Agents.
Before earning her MA in Illustration at Camberwell art college, she studied Russian literature and History of Art at Bryn Mawr College in the United States. In the very early days of her career, she illustrated seven books from London for a small Seattle-based publisher, including five in a 
series of books about animal conservation, a series which has recently been bought by Scholastic, Inc.
She loves living in southeast London and almost gave up her illustration career to become a rigger on the Cutty Sark, but they wouldn't hire her so she settled for being ship's illustrator for a couple years. She dreams of living on a masted ship and keeping an illustrated log of the weird and wonderful new lands the crew discovers.
